M.C.Hammer music biography continued...

for fans at the Oakland A games were he was the batboy. Hammer started his music career when he recorded an album called Feel My Power, released on his own label called Bust It. Capitol records quickly signed Hammer after seeing his live show. The first album was called Let's Get It Started, a revamped version of Feel My Power. The first successful single was "Turn This Mutha Out" which helped the album go double platinum.

Hammer's next album titled Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em was a phenomenon. The first single was called "U Can't Touch This" dominated radio and MTV. The single was so successful it won two Grammy's for Best R&B Song and Best Solo Rap Performance. "Have You Seen Her" and "Pray" were also big hits off the album. Don't Hurt Em went on to sell more then ten million records.

Too Legit to Quit was the next release from Hammer. The title track was another big hit and had a tour with lavish backup dancers, and singers to go with it. Hammer went on to release more hardcore rap songs which fans did not particularly like. Hammer slowly but surely feel out of the limelight and filled for bankruptcy in 1996.
