York City, Digby moved to Los Angeles as a youngster and began writing songs in high school. She first came out into the public eye when she won the 2004 Pantene Pro-Voice competition with her autobiographical song Miss Invisible. Overcoming her shyness, Digby began playing in the Los Angeles clubs, which resulted in a publishing deal with Rondor Music.. By the end of 2005, Digby had signed with Disney's Hollywood Records and her first album of original songs was completed by the end of 2006. Also in 2006, her song "Fool" was included on the Disney compilation album Girl Next. Digby's career didn't really take off, however, until she started posting videos of her acoustic cover performances on YouTube. One such video featured Digby doing an acoustic cover version of Rihanna's Umbrella. The song was subsequently played on the radio station STAR 98.7, was featured on the third season opening episode of the MTV show The Hills, and peaked at #10 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. Digby performed the song on the late night talk show Last Call with Carson Daly in August 2007, solidifying her position as a newcomer to watch. Digby released her debut album, Unfold, with the popular single "Say It Again," in April 2008. It finally gave fans a glimpse of the true Marie Digby and they responded quite enthusiastically. Marie Digby was Miss Invisible no more.
