father and German mother, Medlock was raised in Frankfurt and showed promise as a singer even as a young boy. After both his parents died, however, Medlock had to take odd jobs to support himself. His luck changed when he auditioned for Deutschland Sucht den Superstar and wowed the audience and the judges from the early going. Ultimately, Medlock won the competition with 75 percent of the votes. Medlock's debut album, Mr. Lonely, yielded the singles "Now or Never" and "You Can Get It," both of which hit number one on German charts. DSDS panel judge and dance-pop impresario Dieter Bohlen was featured as producer/songwriter on a number of Medlock's hits. The two teamed up for Medlock's sophomore record, Dreamcatcher, also released in 2007. Powered by radio hit "Unbelievable," Medlock's sophomore effort hit number six on the German charts within a few weeks of its release. In 2008, Medlock issued the album Cloud Dancer, which was fueled by the number one single "Summer Love." He followed with Club Tropicana in 2009, which yielded the number two single "Mamacita," and established Medlock as a durable talent with a huge fan following.
