@BrianRaftery I can't imagine the Miranda Lambert album will be left off many lists (at least I hope not). It's a great 50 minutes of music.

Miranda Lambert music biography continued...

songwriter who introduced his daughter to music at an early age. After seeing Garth Brooks play in Dallas when she was 10, Lambert entered her first country talent contest. At 16, she entered the Tru-Value country talent contest and placed high in the Texas competition. She began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, near Fort Worth, the same show that helped launch LeAnn Rimes. At age 17, Lambert formed her Texas Pride band and landed her first professional singing engagement. It was at Deep Ellum's Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas. Closer to home, she earned the "house band" job at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom in Longview while in high school. In 2001, Lambert's father invested in a CD showcasing his daughter's songs. She toured playing the songs and was eventually able to land two on the Texas country charts. In January 2003, she placed first in the Texas auditions for the series Nashville Star, and moved to Nashville to appear on the show. She finished third but ultimately signed with Sony Music, one of the show's sponsors. Her debut album, Kerosene, peaked at number one on the Billboard country albums chart in early 2005, decidedly signifying her arrival.

Lambert moved on to Columbia Records Nashville for her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was released in early 2007. Although its first single (the title track) failed to make top 40, the next two singles ("Famous in a Small Town" and "Gunpowder & Lead") became her highest-charting singles, with the latter becoming her first Top Ten country hit in July 2008. "No matter what I'm singing, I want to say something that makes people think," Lambert has said. "I want people to hear my songs and feel something. I want to be thought of as a true artist, not just as an 'entertainer.'" Clearly, she's well on her way to becoming one.
