includes Critter Fuqua (vocals/banjo/resonator guitar), Kevin Hayes (guitjo), Morgan Jahnig (upright bass), Ketch Secor (vocals/fiddle/harmonica/banjo), and Willie Watson (vocals/guitar/banjo). They originally met in New York, and set out to tour the country, ultimately settling in North Carolina. There, folk icon Doc Watson discovered them and offered an opportunity to play in his legendary Merlefest. Afterward, the group relocated to Nashville, where they found themselves opening for the likes of Dolly Parton and touring with such country powerhouses as Merle Haggard and Marty Stuart. They made their debut at the Grand Ole Opry in 2001 and signed to Nettwerk America in 2003. Their self-titled debut, which was recorded in the same studio used by Elvis Presley and Waylon Jennings, was released following year. It was selected by CMT (Country Music Television) as one of the top-10 bluegrass albums of that year, and established OCMS at the leading mountain revivalists.

The group's second album, Big Iron World came out in August of 2006 and combined traditional American standards (including Woody Guthrie's "Union Maid") with OCMS originals that blended American roots, folk, blues, gospel, bluegrass and a little bit of gritty rock. It earned OCMS a nomination for a 2007 Americana Music Award in the category of "Best Duo Or Group." Their third Netterk album called Tennessee Pusher (2008) teamed the band up with legendary producer Don Was (Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones) and was another critical and commercial success for the group. OCMS can attribute much of their success to their relentless touring schedule, performing at everything from Bonmaroo to the New Orleans Jazz festival and constantly reminding fans of the appeal of great mountain music.
