Patsy Cline music biography continued...

Virginia. Her father left the family in 1947 causing the family to move around often. When she was a child, she contracted a throat infection that caused her voice to be loud and boisterous. She later dropped out of high school, keeping several jobs to help support her family including performing in night clubs.

Bill Peer was a man Cline met in her early 20s. He became her manager and gave her the name "Patsy." She quickly began performing on the radio and in the Grand Ole Opry. Four Records signed her in 1955 but this did no suite her well because she could only perform music written by Four Star composers. Some songs recorded on Four Star include "Fingerprints", "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down", and "A Stranger in My Arms."

Her contract with Four Star expired in 1960 and she signed with Decca. "I Fall To Pieces" was Cline's first big hit, reaching number one on the Country Charts. After a near death car accident, Cline was back in the studio to record Faded Love. Some songs on this album included "Always" and "Does Your Heart Beat for Me."

Unfortunately, Patsy Cline died during plane crash in 1963. She was only 30 years old. Although she passed on years ago, she was named number on The 40 Greatest Woman in Country Music and number eleven on The 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll
