Paul McCoy music biography continued...
Mississippi, until December of 1981 when his family moved to Slidell, Louisiana. McCoy never had any formal musical training. His dad bought him his first electric guitar from a shop in Jackson, Mississippi for Christmas when he was 12 years old. Less than 15 months after his senior year in high school, he was signed by Wind-Up Records. McCoy got some early exposure by being featured in the Evanescence hit "Bring Me to Life" opposite Amy Lee, and the song was included in both Evanescence's album, Fallen and in the Daredevil film soundtrack. 12 Stones self-titled debut was released in 2002, and was followed by 2004's Potter's Field, which debuted on the Billboard 200 at Number 29. Their third album, Anthem For The Underdog, was released in 2007. The songs on the album, which were penned by McCoy are said to be inspired by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on his home town, showing that McCoy has a conscience as well as a talent for songwriting and singing.
