Born Paul Slayton on March 30, 1980, Paul Wall Slayton graduated Jersey Village High School and studied mass communications at the University of Houston, but his music wouldn’t wait. The young go-getter worked with Swishahouse as a promoter back when he was just beginning to rap professionally with his former partner, Chamillionaire. Paul Wall Biography (Continued)

him one of the most popular artists with Swishahouse, particularly in Texas. Those freestyles led him to a deal with one of Houston's most prominent labels, Paid In Full. Soon after, Wall and Chamillionaire released the Texas rap classic "Get Ya Mind Correct". Wall received national attention via his appearance on Mike Jones’s hit single/video, “Still Tippin’” – the mainstream’s first glimpse of Houston’s unique and virtually overlooked hip-hop culture.
Released in September 2005, Wall’s SwishaHouse/Asylum/Atlantic debut, The People’s Champ, made its chart entry atop the Billboard 200 – a feat that was then unheard of for a Houston rapper. Two years later, Get Money, Stay True was introduced by the single "Break Em' Off" with Lil' Keke, and several other signature Paul Wall songs like “I’m Throwed” and “Everybody Know Me.” The rest, as they say, is history. Along with countless guest appearances – including tracks with 50 Cent, Daddy Yankee, Three 6 Mafia, Kanye West, and many others – Wall continues a parallel career as a DJ and remixer, creating screwed-and-chopped remixes for everyone from rappers to rock bands. In addition, his partnership with Houston jeweler “TV Johnny” Dang has turned into a world-renowned operation. Paul has also teamed up with Zenetti, a global trendsetter in designer automotive accessories, to create a signature line of bejeweled vehicle grills and wheels.
Despite all of the commercial success, Wall remains true to his Houston roots and the people of the streets. Wall’s rapping about their lives has enabled the Chick Magnet to become a major force in the urban music world and has propelled him from a street promoter to a respected rapper and one of the most revered mix tape DJ's in the nation. Paul Wall has taken a hold of the hip hop world and is poised to never let it go.
