continued and he easily graduated in four years. Right after graduating, Peter began teaching at the Moscow Conservatory where he first began composing. After just two years in Moscow, Peter had already written his first symphony and opera called Voyevoda. In 1868 Peter wrote his second symphony proving he was a musical genius.
While writing three more operas from the years 1869 to 1875, Peter became a music critic for Russkiye Vedomosti in 1872. This was a great honor for Peter and showed the tremendous respect his peers had for him. Peter soon began to work under the patronage of Madame Nadeshda von Meck, who gave him an annual salary. This allowed Peter to spend more time on composing rather then teaching.
In 1891 Peter brought his musical talents on an extremely successful tour of the United States. The tour opened at the famous Carnegie Hall, where he soon returned to perform the famous Nutcracker. One of Peter's final accomplishments was when he was awarded an honorary doctorate of music from the prestigious Cambridge University. Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky is still seen as one of the most recognized musical composers of all time.
