Plain White T's music biography continued...
21st century's most popular pop punk outfits. Formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1997, the original line up was: Tom Higgenson (Vocals, occasionally guitar), Dave Tirio (Drums), Steve Mast (guitar and vocals), and Ken Fletcher (bass). They built a name for themselves in the Chicago clubs, but after Higgenson nearly died in a car crash he developed a fresh appreciation for life and began writing honest, technically sound songs that had mileage. At the end of 2001, they were signed by the Fearless label, came out with the album Stop, and backed it with their first nationwide tour. The band began building a name for themselves, but in 2003 saw their lineup change to: Tom Higgenson (vocals), Dave Tirio (guitar), Mike Retondo (bass and vocals), De'Mar Hamilton (drums), and Tim Lopez (guitar, vocals). Shortly after they were dropped by Fearless and picked up by Hollywood, which released Every Second Counts in September 2006. The album was once again backed by national touring and in July 2007, the single "Hey There Delilah" became #1 in US for two weeks running. The T's had finally arrived.
Soon after the United States propelled the band to #1, the rest of the world followed, and the single soon shot up the charts in Australia, Asia and Europe. They released Delilah in August 2007 in the UK and it soon shot up the charts. They also released their first album in the UK, Every Second Counts, a new re-packed edition with an extra two Plain White T's songs, "Hey There Delilah" and "Take Me Away". Shortly after their commercial breakthrough, the band released another single off Every Second Counts, "Our Time Now" and was able to publicize their tunes by appearing and singing on several US television programs. According to Billboard, the T's hope to have a fresh batch of songs out with their 5th LP in fall 2008. As with all their albums they will probably tour extensively behind it, satisfying the millions of fans that have already come into their musical fold.
