Rayvon first teamed up with Shaggy after the two discovered a musical affinity for each other at a New York recording studio. Eventually the two recorded the regional dancehall hit "Big Up" in 1992, which put them in the spotlight. As Shaggy's star began to rise, Rayvon proved a valuable collaborator, working with Shaggy on such hits as "Nice and Lovely" and "In the Summertime." After Rayvon had a hit single of his own—"No Guns, No Murder"—the demand for his solo work grew exponentially. Rayvon ultimately inked a deal with Virgin and release his debut effort, Hear My Cry, in 1997. Produced by Sting International and Funk Master Flex, it yielded the hit singles, "It Feels So Good," "I Put a Spell on You" and "Sky." In 2001, Rayvon teamed up with Shaggy again for a hit track called "Angel," and then went back into the studio to record his sophomore album, My Bad, which was released in 2002. It featured the single "2-Way," which made it up to #67 on the UK charts. 2007 found Rayvon collaborating with Shaggy again on "Out of Control," which Rayvon is anything but.
