guitarist/vocalist (and Swedish ex-pat) Björn Ågnen. Joined by bassist Carl Dalemo and drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo, the group recorded demos which made it to radio and led to a deal with Mercury Records in 2003. Razorlight's debut album, Up All Night, was released in June 2004 to a generally warm critical reception, (though some accused them of unoriginality), and reached number 3 on the UK album charts. Following the release of the album, drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo left the group and was replaced by Andy Burrows. Up All Night was re-issued in April 2005, including the previously unreleased single "Somewhere Else", which peaked at Number 2. For their sophomore album, 2006's Razorlight, the group turned to a more mainstream, pop sound. Though some accused the band of selling out, the album wound up yielding two hit singles—"America" and "in the Morning," which earned Razorlight nominations for two BRIT Awards - one for 'Best British Band' and the other for 'Best Song', "America". They were also nominated for two NME Brit Awards for 'Best Band' and 'Best Album'. After extensive touring throughout Europe, the band went back to the studio to record their third album, Slipway Fires, which solidified their place as one of the new millennium's most inspired bands.
