Phil Solem, both music veterans originally in the Los Angeles band Great Building. In 1990, the two recorded a self-titled debut album in Wilde's home studio, which yielded the single "Just the Way It Is, Baby." The tune peak at 13 on the Billboard singles chart and the album itself landed at number 88 on the album charts. The next album Untitled, of 1992, featured the minor successes "Johnny Have You Seen Her" and 'Chase the Clouds Away". Another track from the album, "Rollin' Down The Hill", was used in the movie Dumb & Dumber. In 1995, The Rembrandts scored their biggest hit when their single "I'll Be There For You" was used as the theme song for the hit sitcom "Friends" and soared to #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. The single was released in other countries, including the UK, where it scored number 3 in 1995 and number 5 in 1997. The success of "Friends" made The Rembrandts household names and led to greater sales of their earlier albums. The theme song was also featured on the Friends Soundtrack album, further adding to the duo's celebrity. Wilde and Solem split up in 1997 to pursue other musical projects, but by 2000 reunited and in 2001 released the album Lost Together as The Rembrandts. The duo continues to record and perform while also working on material and producing for other artists, including Plain White T's, Katie & Katie and Gin Blossoms.
