Scooter Biography |
A German techno group whose reach has extended far beyond their country’s boundaries Scooter continues to score outstanding club remixes on both sides of the Atlantic to this day. The group was formed in Hamburg in 1994 by by H.P Baxxter, Rick Jordan and Ferris Bueller, who together with producer Jens Thele had previously created several hits as part of the remix team the Loop. Scooter’s debut single "Vallée De Larmes" (French for Valley of Tears) reached #8 on the German official dance chart. At that point, Scooter officially switched from being a project into a band, and Baxxter's "rapping" became one of the band's trademarks. “Hyper Hyper” went on to become a platinum selling record, establishing Scooter as a dance club regular. The group went onto record several hit club singles, including "Move Your Ass", "Fire", "How Much Is the Fish?", "Posse (I Need You on the Floor)", "Ramp! (The Logical Song)", "Nessaja", "Weekend!", "Maria (I Like It Loud)", "One (Always Hardcore)", "Hello! (Good to Be Back)", and "The Question Is What Is The Question".
Although the band line-up has changed over the years, they never lost their touch for making hit dance club songs and albums. In fact, in May 2008 May 2008 their album Jumping All Over The World unexpectedly entered at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart, replacing Madonna's album Hard Candy after just one week. All in all Scooter have sold over 14 million records and have earned 80 gold and platinum awards, they are also considered the most successful single-record German act, releasing 20 top ten hits. Baxxter describes their success this way: “Find out what you are unable to do and then go and do it. You can't afford to lose your curiosity or a certain healthy naivety; otherwise you might as well pack it up on the spot. If the element of fun is gone, it doesn’t make much sense. And you need to stay credible.” Throughout their career Scooter has never strayed from the simple philosophy and it has paid dividends for them.
