Secondhand Serenade Biography

A one-man band hailing from Menlo Park, California, Secondhand Serenade, (aka John Vesely), has parlayed his online success into a burgeoning musical career that should know no bounds. With the assistance of his father who was a professional jazz musician, Vesely got into music at an early age and learned the piano and guitar, which he played in a variety of San Francisco Bay area bands. alled Awake and launch his career. After recording the disc, Vesely went about trying to secure a fan base by setting up a MySpace page and playing locally. As the number of fans at his live shows began to grow, so did his online fan base. In just a few months, Secondhand Serenade would rise to the #1 position of all unsigned bands. Soon after, he started beating out signed acts like John Mayer and Nickelback on adult alternative stations and iTunes. By the end of 2006, Secondhand Serenade had signed with Glassnote Records, a brand new label started by respected industry veteran, Daniel Glass. As Glassnote’s first official artist, the team immediately went to work mapping out the next year for Secondhand Serenade, along with the help of Warner/Independent Label Group.
2007 was the breakthrough year for Vesely, as Awake was released that February and behind the strength of such Secondhand Serenade songs such as “Vulnerable,” “It’s Not Over” and “Take Me With You” made a respectable showing on the charts. MTV quickly jumped on board, providing Vesely with an even greater following. In February 2008, "A Twist in My Story" was released on Glassnote. The disc features songs from Awake such as” Maybe” and “Your Call” backed by a full band, as well as several new songs written by Vesely and also recorded with a full band. The first single: "Fall for You" hit the radio in January 2008. The CD was leaked onto the internet, available one month before the CD hit stores, and fans ate it up. The future for Secondhand Serenade does, indeed, seem brighter than bright.
