Simple Plan Biography |
Simple Plan has quickly become one of the most popular pop-punk bands of the early 2000s.
The band’s members first played together during their high school years in the band Reset, but that outfit dissolved when founding drummer Chuck Comeau left for college. Upon his (early) return, the members regrouped as Simple Plan.
While young fans readily embrace the easygoing music, critics often dismiss pop-punk as disposable mall rock. Regardless, the band has managed to forge a solid career in the genre, due in part to its readiness to face the criticism and profess its love of pop-punk.

Simple Plan Biography (Continued) |
band released its official debut album in 2002, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls. That album featured contributions from high-profile performers such as Blink 182 Mark Hoppus (“I’d Do Anything”) and Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden (“You Don’t Mean Anything”).
With album titles such as No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls and Still Not Gettin’ Any…, it’s easy to see why Simple Plan’s juvenile brand of pop-punk earns comparisons to other playful rock acts like Blink 182 and Green Day.
As a result, the band found an almost instant fanbase among followers of those bands.
Extensive touring with the annual Vans Warped Tour helped the band climb to the top of the punk rock pile, eventually earning the coveted headlining slot in 2003.
The group has won a number of Canadian music awards (Much Music, Juno), but has yet to score a Grammy nod in the US.
The band’s third album, simply titled Simple Plan, was released in 2008.
