Soul II Soul music biography continued...
B (Trevor Beresford Romeo) and featured a changing roster of other musicians - notably Nellee Hooper, Simon Law, Phillip 'Daddae' Harvey and Caron Wheeler. Soul II Soul's experiments in music-making of their own resulted in the single "Fairplay," which led to exposure in the clubs and press and a deal with Virgin Records. They had huge hits in Britain with the 1989 singles "Keep on Movin'" and "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)," both from their debut album Club Classics Vol. I., and featuring Wheeler on vocals. The album was released in the U.S. under the title Keep on Movin'; both "Keep on Movin'" and "Back to Life" became substantial hits, propelling the album to double platinum sales. Soul II Soul's follow-up album, Vol. II: 1990 - A New Decade, yielded the hits "Get A Life" and "A Dream's A Dream," the latter featuring operatic vocals by Victoria Wilson-James. While their U.S. following declined somewhat following its release, Soul II Soul continued to have hits in the UK, including 1992's #4 single, "Joy." After the compilation Vol. IV: The Classic Singles, the group's next studio album, Vol. V: Believe, appeared in 1995, and was followed by Time of Change in 1997. Following that effort, Soul II Soul disbanded.
