Hailing from the streets of Tallahassee, Florida, Faheem Najm, better known as T-Pain (for Tallahassee Pain), blends R&B and rap with a unique style and flair that has already won him legions of devoted fans. T-Pain’s first foray into music industry was a productive one. Incorporating a soaring chorus, soulful handclaps and Florida grooves, T-Pain broke out on his own with 2005’s album Rappa Ternt Sanga, and the single “I’m Sprung,” which tackled the maddening joy of finding a new love. This was followed by the equally successful single, “I’m N Luv (Wit A Stripper), an appreciative tune about the girls of the clubs. T-Pain sold a combined five million ring-tones of “Stripper” and “Sprung,” demonstrating that his laid-back electro style was head and shoulders above his fellow rap/soul artists.
T-Pain’s sophomore effort, Epiphany was released in June 2007. It has been called personal without being pretentious, offering listeners a variety of musical styles that range from the snappin’ first single “Buy U a Drank” (featuring Yung Joc) to the rebel reggae furor of “Shotz” to the deep message of “Suicide.” Clearly, T-Pain has established himself as a monumentally talented singer/songwriter and producer who is not afraid to go his own way.
