T.L.C. was the biggest female R&B group of all time. The group consisted of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chili” Watkins. The group first came on the scene with baggy clothes and quirky accessories that caught the attention of MTV and radio stations alike. With producers like

Sexy, Cool, showed a mature and sexual side that fans had yet to see. The smash hit “
Waterfalls” catapulted the group into superstardom. The music video was avant-garde and was in heavy rotation at MTV. Other smooth R&B hits include “

Red Light Special” which were also huge hits on TV and radio.
On their next album, Fan Mail, the group again hit big by having an exceptional music video. The single “
Unpretty” was a teen-age girl anthem that promoted the cliché “it’s what’s inside that counts” motto. “
No Scrubs” was also a huge hit with a more upbeat feel and the group again showing their “sister-power.” After three successful albums and nonstop touring, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes tragically died in a car accident in Honduras. This was a devastating blow to not only the group, but to the music industry as well. With their energetic star gone, the group slowly disbanded. T.L.C. will always be known as one of the best selling women’s groups of all time.
