Missouri, Tech N9ne took up rapping in high school and became a member of a group called Nnutt Howze. He would continue to perform in collaboration with other rap artists, including The Regime, a large collective of MCs he helped to bring together in 1997. Tech N9ne's debut album was 1999's The Calm Before the Storm off Midwestside Records. It was followed by 2000's The Worst. In 2002, Tech N9ne joined forces with Travis O'Guin to found the record label Strange Music. Under the label, Tech N9ne has released six albums, Absolute Power, Anghellic: Reparation, Vintage Tech, Everready (The Religion), Tech N9ne Collabos: Misery Loves Kompany, and Killer. The label has also signed several other performers and bands including Kutt Calhoun, Skatterman & Snug Brim. In September 2008, Tech N9ne officially hit a milestone in his career, recording over a million album sales to date, thanks to the release of his latest double album, Killer. Tech N9ne followed with Sickology 101: The Study of Being Sick, which was released in April 2009. The album featured several guest appearances from the likes of Krayzie Bone, Crooked I, Messy Marv and Chino XL. Tech N9ne's music has been featured in several movies and video games in recent years, testimony to his journey from a quiet, Midwestern town to the top of the rowdy hip hop scene.
