The Eastside Boyz music biography continued...

Lil Bo. Smith was becoming known as a hip hop producer known for club remixes when he pulled the group together to showcase his production talent. Soon after, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz signed to Mirror Image Records, an Atlanta-based label distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997 the label released Who U Wit?, a CD single, and Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album; a second CD single, Shawty Freak a Lil Sumtin', followed in 1998. "Who U Wit?" was a regional success and opened up more production opportunities for Lil Jon, but in 2000 that he returned with another East Side Boyz album, We Still Crunk, which was released independently. Their big breakthrough to the national scene happened in 2001 with the release of the album Put Yo Hood Up. "Bia Bia", the single from the album featuring Ludacris, Too $hort, and Chyna Whyte, became a hit in clubs throughout the U.S, and made The Eastside Boyz a national draw.

In 2002, broadening their appeal, The Eastside Boyz released Kings of Crunk. The first single, "I Don't Give a Fuck" featuring Mystikal and Krayzie Bone became another dance floor hit. However, it was "Get Low" with the Ying Yang Twins and its catchy hook that became a breakout hit. It reached the top five in a composite worldwide chart (compiled from U.S., German, French R&B charts) in 2003. Kings of Crunk also reached the top twenty of the U.S. album chart in September 2003. Following the success of Kings of Crunk, Lil Jon started to spend more time on producing other artists, but the Eastside Boyz continued to perform and record. In August 2008 Lil Jon announced his new deal with The Orchard, the company that acquired the Eastside Boyz label, TVT Records, after the label declared bankruptcy. "I walked into The Orchard and came away with the sweet taste of freedom!" said Lil Jon. "Others talk, The Orchard does. I expect to do great things with them, and look forward to my future." Fans of the Eastside Boyz do as well.
