The Killers music biography continued...
"All these Things that I've Done", and "Smile Like You Mean It". Comprised of members Brandon Flowers (vocals, synthesizer), Dave Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass), and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. (drums), the band has experienced major mainstream success since the release of their debut album Hot Fuss. Formed in 2002 shortly after Flowers responded to an ad placed by Keuning who was searching for a vocalist, the two sought out to find a bassist and drummer and recruited Vannucci and Stoermer who were in other bands at the time. The group's name is derived from New Order's fictional band name which appears on the bass drum in their video for the song "Crystal". Playing gigs in Las Vegas, the band caught the attention of London indie label Lizard King (now Marrakesh Records) who immediately signed them to release the limited-edition single Mr. Brightside. In 2003 they performed at the CMJ Music Marathon and landed a worldwide deal with Island Records.
Hot Fuss was issued in June 2004 and peaked in the number one spot in the UK and Australia, while it placed in the Top Ten in the US. Each new single released enhanced the band's growing popularity, as they continued to promote their album on tour. Hot Fuss was eventually certified triple platinum. The Killers' long awaited sophomore album, Sam's Town, is to be released October 3, 2006. The lead single "When You Were Young" debuted in August reaching the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the release of the album, the band will embark on a tour playing shows in Europe, the US, and Canada.
