Breaking Benjamin) in 2005, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus began crafting their debut full-length. The resulting Don't You Fake It appeared in July 2006, and part of that summer was spent on the Warped Tour; the album was certified gold by the year's end, propelled by the success of first single "Face Down,” a scathing indictment of domestic violence, and other unique Red Jumpsuit Apparatus songs like “
Your Guardian Angel" and "Seventeen Ain't So
Sweet."
As of February 2007, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus took part in the US Take Action! Tour organized for the prevention of youth suicide, along with bands such as
My Chemical Romance and
Rise Against. Their song "
In Fate's Hands" is featured in the video game Madden NFL 07. Legend has it that the name, "Red Jumpsuit Apparatus", was chosen by placing random words on a wall, and then blindfolding one of the members and choosing three words. As a result "Red Jumpsuit Apparatus" was pieced together. But there’s nothing random about the band’s success—it’s based on hard, purposeful work and determination.
