The Script music biography continued...
2001. After working in the United States as R&B producers, Sheehan and O'Donoghue moved back to Dublin and recruited Glen Power as their drummer. Their debut single "We Cry" entered the UK Singles Chart at number thirty, received steady radio airplay and other accolades before rising and peaking at number 15, giving the band their first top twenty single. Their second single, "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," proved to be their international breakthrough hit and their most successful single to date. After debuting at number 30 on the UK Singles Chart, it rose twenty seven places to land at number three, making it their first top three single in the UK. It would peak at number two, being held off the top spot by Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl". The band followed in August 2008 with their debut album, The Script, which spent eight weeks in the UK top ten and was the 12th best-selling album in the UK in 2008. It ultimately went multi-platinum. The Script was released in the US in March 2009, gaining instant critical acclaim and commercial attention. Describing his band's success, O'Donoghue said: "Irish people have soul. It comes from generations of pain, and generations of understanding emotion to be able to physically get that in a solid sound." Fans are glad they have.
