and Lisa Origliasso, born on Christmas day in 1985. At an early age the girls expressed interest in performing and appeared at events and awards shows, eventually garnering spots on several local television programs. On their 18th birthday Jessica received her first guitar, with this the girls began writing and singing songs. While still in their teens, the twins released three pop albums as Lisa & Jessica, which led to a music publishing deal and collaboration with several top lyricists to hone their songwriting skills. Soon after, they changed their name to Teal, and released the single "Baby It's Over," a catchy number that made the twins sought-after songwriters. American Idol's down under cousin, Australian Idol, employed the twins and one of the Origliassos' compositions appeared on Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan's 2004 debut album, For You, while another of their tracks landed on Japanese pop singer Miz's album Say It's Forever the same year. Following these successes, the girls moved to Los Angeles, changed their name to The Veronicas (after a line in the movie "Heathers), and scored a record contract with Warner Brother's Sire division. The Veronicas debut album, entitled The Secret Life of..., was released in Australia in October 2005, entering the ARIA Album charts at #7. Since then, it has peaked at #2 and gone 4x Platinum, yielding five hit singles in Australia. The album was released internationally in 2006, making great in roads and establishing The Veronicas as worldwide stars.



In 2007 The Veronicas began work on their second album. The album, Hook Me Up was written and recorded in Los Angeles and released in Australia in November 2007. Like their debut album, it also peaked at #2 on the Australian charts, earning a certification of two times platinum. The album has had four Australian top ten singles released from it to date. The album's title track, "Hook Me Up", was The Veronicas' first number one single in Australia. "We were given a one-in-a-billion shot," Jessica has said of the twins' career "...And we were determined to deliver," Lisa finished. And deliver they have.
