Three Doors Down music biography continued...

of vocalist and drummer Brad Arnold, guitarist Matt Roberts and bassist Todd Harrell. Soon after, the band added guitarist Chris Henderson and retained a studio drummer so that Arnold could come forward and sing live. The group started out playing at friend's parties and soon graduated to gigs at local clubs, where they generated great local buzz. Soon, a song they had done called "Kryptonite" made it to the playlist at a radio station in nearby Biloxi and catapulted the group to regional stardom. This, in turn, led to gigs further away and the band ended up playing a showcase for several record labels at CBGB's in New York. Three Doors Down ultimately signed with Republic/Universal, which issued the band's major-label debut, The Better Life, in early 2000. It went on to become the 11th best-selling album of that year, selling over 3 million copies. It has since been certified 6 X Platinum, thanks in large part to the international hit singles, "Kryptonite", "Loser", and "Duck and Run."

Three Doors Down's Away from the Sun arrived in November 2002; it debuted at number eight on the Billboard Top 200 and soon went gold. 3 Doors Down toured steadily throughout 2003 and 2004 in support of Away from the Sun, and shared the stage which such stars as Tantric, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Staind and Nickelback. They issued the live EP Another 700 Miles in November 2003 as a holdover between studio efforts. The band's third studio album, 2005's Seventeen Days, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified platinum. "Let Me Go" and "Behind Those Eyes" charted with the most success. A self-titled album, which followed in May 2008, repeated its predecessor's success when it too debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. Three Doors Down has sold over 15 million albums since its debut and has shown that a band from a small town with big dreams can make those dreams come true.
