Tim Hughes music biography continued...
23, 1978, in London, England. At 18, feeling a call to write songs, Tim spent a year in South Africa working with kids and leading worship, honing his craft and playing favorites from Matt Redman, Delirious?, and Vineyard Music. In 1997, aged only 19, Hughes was asked to lead worship at the Soul Survivor festivals. Soon after he after he contributed to the albums Revival Generation, I Could Sing of Your Love Forever (Volumes 1 and 2) and All Around The World. His debut solo album was 2001's Here I Am To Worship. Produced by Dwayne Larring and Jason Halbert (formerly of Sonicflood), this melodically driven release "sounds at home in a sanctuary as on pop radio" according to music critics, and catapulted Hughes to the top of the CCM movement with its passionate anthem, "Here I Am to Worship. The tune was #1 on CCLI for more than two years running and garnered Hughes two Dove Awards. Following this success Hughes recorded When Silence Falls in 2004 and Holding Nothing Back in 2007, which contained such Christian chart toppers as "The Highest and the Greatest", "God of Justice", and "Everything." Says Hughes: "These are the days to be daring, exuberant, and passionate in worship. These are not times for half-hearted, apathetic worship. The need is great, and the church has to rise up and take on board all who God is." His fans believe that through his music, Hughes is doing just that.
