Blending genres and thereby bridging the cultural gaps that divide us,
Toby Mac has brought his own distinct style of song to a huge audience thirsty for musical innovation. Toby was born
Kevin Michael McKeehan on October 22, 1964, in Fairfax, Virginia. He got the name Toby from having been born in October. Toby met Kevin
Max and Michael Tait while in college in the Washington DC area and the three formed the band dc Talk in 1989. A unique approach to combining rock, pop, and rap quickly jettisoned the trio to success, not only in the contemporary

market, but also in the mainstream market. Their album Jesus Freak was a significant milestone, selling over two million copies, making it a double platinum record. As the group’s popularity began to wane in the late 90s, TobyMac struck out on his own, immediately scoring success with the album Momentum, which contained two hit TobyMac songs—“
Extreme Days” and Somebody’s Watching”—and helped garner the artist numerous industry accolades including several Dove Awards and two BMI honors as Christian Songwriter of the Year.
Since his solo breakthrough, TobyMac has continued to record, coming out with such albums as Welcome to
Diverse City (2004), and more recently Portable Sounds (2007). He has also released remixed versions of his first two albums, creatively titled Re:Mix Momentum, and Renovating Diverse City. He continues to court a diverse fan base, appearing in a T-Bone video one moment and endorsing ZoeCity, a Christian social networking site similar to MySpace, the next. Critics have said that TobyMac “wants to start a revolution, one that will sweep through cities and erase the divisive lines that keep people and cultures apart.” In a sustained recording career, he has already inspired millions with the messages in his songs and we see no reason why he’ll stop any time soon. He is the consummate crossover artist.
