was the second rap act ever to reach #1 on Billboard's album charts with his hit 1989 single "Wild Thing," which was recorded on a shoestring budget, on an eight-track tape machine in his co-producer's Hollywood apartment. His 1989 album Loc'd After Dark also yielded the hit "Funky Cold Medina." After recording his 1991 follow-up album, Cool Hand Loc, the singer put his familiar raspy voice to work on TV and in film, where he has been performing ever since.
