Vanessa Hudgens is proving to have the talent to justify her considerable fan base. Hudgens was born on December 14, 1998 in Salinas, California, to multi-racial parents. She began performing at an early age, appearing in musicals starting at age 8, by taking over for a friend who couldn't go to the audition, and moved to Los Angeles after winning an audition for a commercial. The popularity of the show made Hudgens a household name to teens throughout North America, spawned a hit soundtrack, a worldwide concert tour, a show at Walt Disney World, and even a book series that helped Hudgens land in Forbes magazine's list of top-earning stars under 21.
As the result of her role in High School Musical, Hudgens scored several lucrative commercial deals for such brands as Old Navy and Blockbuster. She reprised her role in High School Musical 2 and was signed to star in the third installment when a scandal involving nude photos surfaced, temporarily derailing her, but not for long.
