of Puerto Ricans Llandel Veguilla Malavé Salazar (Yandel) and Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin). In 1998, Wisin & Yandel got in the rap genre, recording for DJ Dicky's No Fear 3 under the Fresh Production label. In 1999, that same label signed them up and in that same year, they appeared in La Misión, Vol. 1, which went gold. The reception was so warm that the label produced their first solo album in 2000 titled Los Reyes del Nuevo, an instant hit in the Latin world. In 2001, they released La Misión II, which went on to become their second gold record. That same year they released De Nuevos a Viejos, which turned out to be Puerto Rico's best-selling album ever and gave Wisin & Yandel their third gold album. They gained more fans and recognition with records like 2004's De Otra Manera and 2005's Mi Vida: La Pelicula, but they wouldn't break into the English speaking world until "Pal' Mundo" a collaborative effort with friends and colleagues like Grupo Aventura, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar and Hector "el Bambino. The album spawned three major hit singles that stayed high on the charts for weeks: "Rakata", "Llame Pa' Verte" and "Noche de Sexo". Finally, the rest of the world found the sound that the Latin market had adopted wholeheartedly years earlier.



Wisin & Yandel followed up by establishing their own record label, WY Records, and in 2007, released their sixth studio album Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres. With its first break-out single, "Sexy Movimiento," and the multiplatinum album as a whole, Wisin & Yandel catapulted to the top of the Latin urban music charts and earned accolades at the 2008 Premio Lo Nuestro and Premio Juventud Awards, a Latin Grammy and a Grammy for Best Latin Urban Album of the Year at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. They followed the honors with 2009's La Revolución, their hottest album yet, from a duo that have become urban Latin music's top audience draw throughout the world.
