Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) looks to live out the dream of a small town girl looking to make it big in the big city. She leaves her home in New Jersey as well her father, played by Hollywood star John Goodman, for dreams of stardom in New York City. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to land a recording contract, a penniless Sanford runs into a positive twist of fortune when she runs into a few girls who work at a local upscale bar called the Coyote Ugly. She would interview with the bar owner soon after en route to landing a waitress position – a job which entailed lots of singing and dancing for an often rowdy crowd.
