The Hitch soundtrack goes with a film that broke Sony's record for best opening weekend for a romantic-comedy. Hitch the movie starred Will Smith, Eva Mendes, Kevin James and Amber Valletta. The Hitch film was directed by Andy Tennant.

The Hitch movie revolves around Alex "Hitch" Hitchens, a professional "date doctor", who advises other men in the art of courting women. While coaching one of his clients, Albert Brennama, who has a crush on celebrity Allegra Cole, Hitch finds himself falling for Sara, a gossip columnist who is determined to unmask and ruin the so-called date doctor after one of his "clients" had a one-night stand with her best friend. During the course of the Hitch film, both couples come together, split up and wind up back together again.

The Hitch soundtrack was executive produced by Will Smith and reflects the former rapper’s taste in classic soul and R&B. Vintage tracks represent Motown (the Temptations' classic "I Can't Get Next to You") and Philly soul (The O'Jays "Love Train"), as well as the Caribbean rhythms of Jimmy Cliff's "You Can Get It." Other highlights include Martha Reeves' "It's Easy to Fall in Love" and Earth, Wind & Fire's pop-tinged "Reasons," which testify to the old school's rich diversity.
