The Notting Hill soundtrack accompanies the 1999 British romantic comedy, which was that country’s highest grossing film to that date. The Notting Hill film stars Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant, Rhys Ifans, Emma Chambers, Tim McInnerny, Gina McKee and Hugh Bonneville. It was one of several romantic comedies that Grant made after his success in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Notting Hill the movie revolves around bookshop owner William Thacker, whose whole world is turned upside down by a visit to his store from Anna Scott, the world's most famous actress. Later, Will knocks his orange juice into Anna as she passes him in the street. After she gets changed at his house, Anna surprises Will with a kiss. The pair then begin a relationship, but encounter numerous complications and difficulties along the way. In the end, however, they live happily ever after.

The Notting Hill soundtrack is composed of several slow-burning love ballads including “No Matter What” by Boyzone and “I Do (Cherish You) by 98 Degrees. Add to that some nice instrumental pieces by Trevor Jones (“Notting Hill” and “Will and Anna”) and classic soul from Al Green and Bill Withers and you have a love potion that goes down easily.
