The original Pink Panther soundtrack, composed by Henry Mancini, is beloved by movie goers the world over. The latest Pink Panther soundtrack was composed for the 2006 Pink Panther film by Christophe Beck. As of 2006, the Pink Panther franchise had included ten films. The original Pink Panther movie was released in 1963 and starred Peter Sellers as the bumbling inspector Clouseau. The 2006 Pink Panther film stars Steve Martin as the incompetent detective and Kevin Kline as Chief Inspector Dreyfus.

The Pink Panther film opens with the French national soccer team’s victory over the Chinese national soccer team, the murder of French coach Yves Gluant, and the disappearance of his Pink Panther diamond ring. Inspector Dreyfus, hoping to win the “Medal of Honor,” starts his own private investigation of the matter, at the same time publically naming France’s most incompetent policeman, Clouseau, to the case.

Beyonce performed two songs for the 2006 Pink Panther film—“A Woman Like Me” and “Check On It,” but neither were included on the Pink Panther soundtrack. On the disc, however, Christophe Beck handles the “Pink Panther Theme” both with traditional flavor and with and with some innovative, updated variations. Selections like “Perfect Day for a Murder” and “Clouseau’s Lament” offer up the unmistakable Pink Panther atmosphere.
